How to use one of Android 6.0 Marshmallow’s most anticipated features

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Tips And Tricks App Permissions

Android 6.0 Marshmallow has a lot of highly anticipated new features and one of them is something iPhone users have had for years: Granular app permissions. Phone Arena installed the latest developer preview of Marshmallow and posted some terrific tips to help Android users make sure they’re only sharing data with apps that they specifically want to share.

To access Marshmallow’s permissions management feature, you’ll want to open up your Settings menu and then click on the Apps section. From there, click on the Gear icon that will then give you the option to go to app permissions manager.

Now comes the fun part — managing your apps’ permissions. You can click on different access settings such as microphone, camera, calendar, contacts and location, and see which apps have access to them. From there you can continue to let them use these different features or you can choose to cut them off.

Of course, we still don’t know for certain when Android users will have a chance to try out this new feature themselves. Since Google still hasn’t announced a release timeframe for Marshmallow and since it typically takes many months for Android users to get the newest software, we imagine this guide sadly won’t be relevant to the vast majority of Android users for quite a while.

To get a full picture of how to manage app permissions on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and to see pictures of what the app permissions management screens look like, check out PhoneArena’s full guide here.
