While hundreds of thousands of iPods are being sold daily, Microsoft’s Zune reached its 1 millionth sale yesterday. Since its launch in November, the Zune has failed to excite a wide variety of consumers, and hasn’t proven itself as a “iPod killer.” The wireless beaming technology only works well when there are other Zune users around, and finding one can be as difficult as finding Waldo. Microsoft Entertainment head Robbie Bach has said that, “Competing with the California firm is fun because the company is very skilled and a worthy challenger.” Looks like Microsoft will be have a lot more fun in the months to come as Apple is not showing any signs of slowing down. How about adding some “fun” features, like Zune Marketplace via WiFi or a flash based Zune?
