Apple has come a long way since the dark days of the mid-’90s, when it very nearly went bankrupt. While we associate Apple’s homepage these days with showing off the latest iPhone or the Apple Watch, back in the late ’90s Apple’s big deal was its new line of iMac desktop computers.
We remember when we first saw the new iMac in the late ’90s. We really liked its unique and eye-catching design, but of course we never thought of picking one up because, well, it was a Mac and nobody writes software for Macs anymore. Plus, just one mouse button? What were they smoking in Cupertino?
While Apple’s 1997 iMac didn’t set the world on fire, it did serve notice that Apple wasn’t just going to lay down and die as we all thought it would. The rest, as they say, is history.
