We recently called HTC’s (2498) Windows Phone 8X one of the best-designed smartphones of all time, but the sleek handset has been overshadowed this holiday season by it’s Windows Phone rival, the Nokia (NOK) Lumia 920. Rumblings from our sources suggest end-users sales have been slow going for the 8X, though we have heard that it sold fairly well in some U.S. markets ahead of the holidays. In an effort to bolster sales at Verizon Wireless (VZ) moving into 2013, the carrier recently dropped the price of the phone to $99.99 on contract, a great bargain for this sleek Windows Phone 8 handset. BGR reviewed the Windows Phone 8X in October and called it an outstanding smartphone despite its unavoidable shortcomings, such as the lack of available Windows Phone apps.
