Microsoft (MSFT) is once again said to be readying an Office Mobile app for Android and iOS devices for early next year, according to The Verge. The app will reportedly be free, only requiring a Microsoft account, and will grant users the ability to view Office documents on the go. A paid version of the app will support basic editing. Office Mobile is said to support Word, Powerpoint and Excel documents, however the company is not attempting to replace its full desktop suite anytime soon. The Verge’s source said that Office Mobile will launch for iOS devices in late February or early March, with an Android version expected in May. A Microsoft spokesperson reportedly confirmed the story and said that “Office will work across Windows Phone, iOS and Android.” An alleged screen capture follows below.
