The brilliant minds at ChefCharger have taken two great things and have made them even better together — namely, smartphones and beer. ChefCharger has created a clever new smartphone charger that also happens to double as a beer coaster, as you can see in the picture at the top of the page.
DON’T MISS: It finally happened: There’s a wearable that’s even creepier than Google Glass
ChefCharger was founded by MIT graduates Lana Ibragimova and Alex Smetannikov, who wanted to make charging devices to sell to restaurants that are designed to look like other items you commonly see when eating out. In addition to beer coaster chargers, they have also designed chargers that look like candle holders and salt and pepper holders.
The beer coaster chargers are made out of bamboo and are also waterproof, so you don’t need to worry about spilling your drink on them. They really do blend in very well and don’t look like phone chargers at first glance:
While you may want one of these for your home, keep in mind that these devices are made for businesses and aren’t cheap — a five-pack of beer coaster chargers costs $300, while you have to buy the salt-and-pepper holder chargers in sets of eight that cost $800.
All the same, these are very cool devices, although they sadly don’t have wireless charging capabilities yet. Instead, there are wires spooled up inside the chargers that you can pull out and attach to your phone.
