Eerie photos show vines slowly consuming an abandoned village

If you’ve ever played games like The Last of Us or watched movies like I Am Legend, then you know one of the eeriest details shown in those worlds is the way plant life slowly takes over the remains of human civilization after an apocalyptic cataclysm. Mashable draws our attention to some photos that were recently taken of an abandoned village called Shengshan in China.

As you can see, there are vines that are crawling all over the village’s buildings, which have fallen into severe disrepair after years of neglect. Taken together, it appears that the remains of this town are being swallowed whole by Mother Nature.
