Windows 8 is not off to the start Microsoft (MSFT) and its PC vendor partners were hoping for. A recent well-sourced report stated that Windows 8 hardware sales are falling short of Microsoft’s expectations, and the company is said to be blaming lackluster designs for the slow sales. Now, a new report states that Windows 8 might not have any significant impact on PC sales in the crucial global enterprise market until 2014. “Demand for Microsoft’s Windows 8 is unlikely to start emerging until 2013 for the consumer market, while for the enterprise market, demand is expected to come at an even later time and may not appear until 2014,” Digitimes’ Aaron Lee reported on Tuesday, citing unnamed PC industry sources. The report speculates that companies may turn to Windows 8 as Microsoft’s Windows XP support draws to an end in April 2014.
