You may not believe this, but Apple (AAPL) is planning to make the next generation of one of its products lighter and slimmer than the previous generation. Who would have thought? As AppleInsider reports, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the fifth-generation iPad expected to be released in 2013 will be “significantly lighter and slimmer” than previous iPad models. While this isn’t all that surprising, Kuo also says that Apple will likely incorporate the iPad mini’s thinner bezels into its newest iPad, thus freeing up even more screen space for the 9.7-inch tablet. But unfortunately, Kuo also thinks that we’ll have to wait until the third quarter to get a gander at the newest full-size iPad, where previous rumors had suggested that the new iPad would launch by the end of March.
