You would be hard-pressed to find someone who has tried the Slingbox and Sling Player combo and not thoroughly enjoyed it. What’s not to like? For the price of a Slingbox and no monthly fees, you can take your home television service with you wherever you go as long as there’s an internet connection. The service works across platforms with computers and mobiles handsets alike. If you live in a 3G coverage area, we kid you not when we say that Sling Player makes getting dragged out to the mall by the little lady a true pleasure. But you already know all that. Sling recently announced a brand-spanking-new UIQ player that has been added to their arsenal, along with a nicely updated S60 player that sports N95 8GB compatibility among other improvements. These additions open up a whole new set of doors for Sling and for the huge number of existing and potential Slingbox owners out there who couldn’t enjoy the mobile player before. Check the gallery for a few action shots and as an added bonus we’ve thrown a little pic of our buddy Dave Zatz rocking the BlackBerry player on his 8800. Show off. The rest of us will have to wait it out a bit longer before a public release comes around but rest assured that Sling is cranking away to get this puppy out to market as soon as they can. We can’t wait. As for an iPhone client, Dave once again confirmed what we told you back in January. Sling was waiting for the SDK before considering the option and now that they got their mits on it, they’re playing with it. No solid confirmation one way or the other but as soon as we know, you’ll know.
