The topic of “best camera phone in the world” is debated often, but it really shouldn’t be — that title goes to the Nokia Lumia 1020, with its 41-megapixel camera. According to one expert, the Lumia 1020 is the closest thing smartphones have to a modern DSLR, having recently crushed the iPhone 5s in a head-to-head showdown. Well guess what, Nokia fans: As good as it was, the Lumia 1020’s camera just got even better.
Nokia recently began rolling out a major software update for the Lumia 1020 and other Nokia Windows Phones called “Lumia Black.” The software brings a number of enhancements, but one in particular is worth noting.
According to before and after comparisons posted by Sofica, Nokia’s Black software update brings with it major improvements to the already-impressive photo quality on images captured by the Lumia 1020. Color reproduction is now more accurate, photos have less noise even in dim lighting, and edges are somehow even sharper than before.
