As bulls and bears continue to duke it out over the upcoming iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c launch on Friday, conflicting info continues to trickle in. Some of the latest news comes from The Guardian, which spoke to several unnamed sources at various UK wireless carriers and found that iPhone 5c preorders appear to be beyond underwhelming. “It’s been a big disappointment,” one anonymous source told the site. “We are seeing a decline in the number of pre-orders. They are 60% to 70% less than we were expecting, and we didn’t expect them to be massively high given it’s not the flagship model.” Another operator said total iPhone 5c preorders are just one-tenth of what the carrier saw for Apple’s handset launches in previous years, when pre-sales totaled between 75,000 and 100,000 units. Given that even the most bullish Apple analysts see the iPhone 5c outselling the 5s by a healthy margin, this certainly isn’t a good sign leading into launch weekend.
