Every other Galaxy S6 Samsung sells has a curved display, a new report from South Korean publication Yonhap News indicates. The company’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge went on sale officially on Friday in some 20 markets, with preorders having started weeks before that. Even though Samsung is yet to officially announce any sales numbers for its new flagship handsets, the edge model is apparently a lot more popular than initially believed.

Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge sales have been “much higher than expected,” with an industry official saying that, in South Korea, sales reached an all-time high in the past three days compared to previous Galaxy S launches.

A high-ranking Samsung official said that the company “failed to make a precise prediction of [Galaxy S6 edge] demand,” which is why stock shortages may continue for a month. According to the publication, the Galaxy S6 edge accounts for 50% of sales. That would be an impressive achievement for Samsung, assuming this detail is correct, especially considering that the Galaxy S6 edge is more expensive than the flat model.

Previous reports also claimed Samsung may have underestimated the popularity of the Galaxy S6 edge, with the company scrambling to ensure it has enough parts for the curved screens to meet demand.

Samsung so far only mentioned having sold more than 20 million combined Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge units in the days following the official announcement at MWC, but those were sales to Samsung’s partners looking to stock the handset. Launch numbers for the Galaxy S6 family aren’t available at this time, but recent estimates say that Samsung may sell more than 50 million Galaxy S6 units this year.
