MySpace finds over 29,000 sex offenders, politicians freak

After agreeing to begin turning over alleged sex offenders with profiles on MySpace, the social-networking site is now reporting an estimate of 29,000 “known” profiles linked to the predators, up from a reported 7,000 in May. Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has been specifically outraged at this turn of events, stating, “I’m absolutely astonished and appalled because the number has grown so exponentially over so short of time with no explanation.” Of course, questions are bound to be brought up. Examples? Why is everyone freaked that they’re actually finding more of these people? Isn’t that a good thing? And what made you think that out of the 180 million profiles on MySpace, that only 7,000 would be shady? Shame on you, arrogant people who barely know how to use the internet. Shame on you.
