Apple is expected to launch at least two iPhone models this year, the “S” versions of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, if not three smartphones; some reports already claim a 4-inch iPhone 6c is also in the works. In addition to slightly updated specs, at least some of Apple’s 2015 iPhones will also apparently incorporate one of Apple’s newest innovations, a new interaction method the company created for the Apple Watch, and deployed on the MacBook as well.

A new report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News says that Apple is indeed bringing Force Touch support to iPhone 6s models, or at least the iPhone 6s Plus version, echoing previous reports that said the new technology will also be available to iPhone users.
The publication says that TPK, which is already providing Force Touch panels for Apple Watch, is also going to supply the same technology for this year’s 5.5-inch iPhone, a move that should significantly boost its revenues.
Surprisingly, only the iPhone 6s Plus is mentioned, suggesting the technology might only be made available to iPhone phablet buyers rather than to all iPhone 6s models. Of course, logic suggests that if the feature is introduced on one model, it will come to the other as well.
Last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have almost identical specs except for the rear camera, which comes with optical image stabilization features in the phablet version. Obviously, Apple wanted to make sure it offered the same high-end experience to all iPhone 6 buyers, choosing not to significantly differentiate the two products.
Bringing Force Touch only to the iPhone 6s Plus might not make that much sense considering Apple’s history, as it would render those special Force Touch gestures that developers might build into iOS 9 apps useless on the smaller iPhone 6s.
Of course, that’s assuming Apple wants Force Touch on all devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. After all, the company has yet to confirm these iPhone 6s rumors.
