Samsung’s upcoming new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are two of the most hotly anticipated smartphones of the year. In fact, Google search volume for Samsung’s upcoming new flagship phone series has actually managed to surpass Google searches for the iPhone 8 several times over the past couple of weeks. That seems like a gimme since Apple’s next-generation iPhone is still more than six months from launching, but search volume for unreleased iPhones is always incredibly high, and industry watchers expect interest to be even higher this year since Apple has a completely redesigned tenth-anniversary iPhone planned.

As impressive as Samsung’s new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are shaping up to be, however, not everyone wants to pay sky-high prices for the latest and greatest smartphones. In fact, while we are expecting plenty of improvements over last year’s flagship models, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will still be two of the best smartphones money can buy even after the Galaxy S8 launches next month. Well, if you’re in the market for a new Android phone and you want flagship performance without paying flagship prices, you’re in luck.

It has been a full year since the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge were first released and yet they’re still two of the most powerful smartphones on the market. They also feature stunning designs and gorgeous Super AMOLED displays, as well as a rear camera that is still one of the best ever seen on a smartphone.

While the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are expected to improve upon the S7 and S7 edge in nearly every way, last year’s models are still fantastic options for most Android users. And they’re even better now that Samsung has slashed their prices.

After recently shaving between $100 and $250 off of its prices on S7 handsets for other carriers, Samsung on Monday dramatically reduced the prices of both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge for AT&T’s network. The Galaxy S7 drops to just $394.99 from $594.99, while the larger Galaxy S7 edge’s price has also been reduced by $200 to $494.99 with no contract. For reference, the Galaxy S7 for AT&T is currently $509.95 on Amazon, while the contract-free Galaxy S7 edge sells for $569.99.

These price cuts on Samsung’s online store are expected to be permanent as the smartphone vendor continues to sell last year’s flagship Galaxy S models at reduced prices to provide shoppers who don’t want to spend top dollar a pair of great alternatives.
