HTC (2498) and Verizon (VZ) on Tuesday took the wraps off of their latest smartphone, the DROID DNA, at a joint press event in New York City. The two companies were interested in going back to what made the DROID franchise what it is today with a high-end smartphone that is “on the bleeding edge of technology.” The device is equipped with a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor and includes 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 2020 mAh battery, Beats Audio technology, wireless charging, LTE, a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera and an 8-megapixel rear camera. The smartphone’s most distinct feature, however, is its display. The DROID DNA has a 5-inch Super LCD 3 full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution display with a whopping 440 pixels-per-inch. The handset is powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and includes HTC’s Sense 4 Plus user interface. The DROID DNA can be preordered now from Verizon for $199 with a new two-year agreement and will be available for purchase on November 21st.
