Motorola’s Android Wear-based Moto 360 was one of the most interesting early smartwatches running on Google’s wearable platform thanks to its simple, round design. Many others have adopted the same design for new smartwatches, including LG and Huawei. But Motorola is also rumored to be working on a new watch of its own, likely a second-generation Moto 360 version, and early details seem very promising.

After a leak revealed what looked like an unreleased Moto 360 version inside a briefcase, a developer has now found traces of the device in his Android developer console, Phandroid reports.
The ping came from Mundelein, a city close to Motorola’s headquarters in Chicago, with the developer registering for it a “Smelt” codename. The gadget is running Android 5.1 and features a 360 x 360 resolution display, which seems to indicate it’s a version of the Moto 360.
Furthermore, the word “Smelt” describes a “small silvery fish,” the publication says, which is in line with the Moto 360’s codenames. Before it was released, the original Moto 360 was known as “Minnow.”
It’s not clear when Motorola will bring this second-generation Moto 360 to market, as the company has yet to officially announce it.
