According to some sources, Apple will release a bigger 12.9-inch tablet this year, although others believe the company has ditched the product for the time being. However, French blog Nowhereelse found images from a Weibo user that shows an alleged aluminum mockup of the iPad Pro.

The newly published pictures shows what looks like a tablet mold with rounded corners and edges and an Apple logo on the back. Space for the rear camera can also be easily spotted, although physical buttons can’t be seen.

From the looks of it, this iPad Pro mockup is definitely much bigger than the current 9.7-inch iPad Air.

What’s interesting about the leak is the fact that the same source who was able to get its hands on the aluminum iPad Pro published a similar picture of an all-aluminum made iPhone 6 mockup earlier, which had all the design elements revealed by the plethora of iPhone 6 models that followed.

So, it would appear that the person posting these images has access to Apple suppliers or case makers. While the iPhone 6 design changes featured in so many images showing basically the same dummy unit and 3D schematics are yet to be confirmed, once Apple launches the iPhone 6 we’ll be able to tell whether the iPhone 6 leaks were accurate or not, and determine whether this person actually had access to real Apple products.

Apple has been rumored for quite a while to be working on a bigger iPad model, and the company may very well test different designs with bigger screens without actually deciding to go forward with the project. Recently, purported 2014 iPad Air images have also hit the web.

Images showing the iPad Pro aluminum mockup, as well as the similar iPhone 6 aluminum dummy unit posted by the same Weibo user follow below.
