It might come as a shock, but Apple plans to launch new iPhones in 2015. Crazy, we know. With the company’s annual fall launch fast approaching and its next-generation iPhone lineup having entered mass production, rumors and leaks focused on the upcoming new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are kicking into high gear.
Unfortunately though, a big leak from over the weekend brings a bit of bad news surrounding Apple’s next iPhone, seemingly confirming earlier rumors.

Each and every year, Apple releases a new iPhone — or several new iPhones, as was the case in 2014 — that is better than its predecessor in nearly every way. Areas that are often the focus for improvements include display quality, speed, design and camera performance.
This year, rumors are painting a pretty great picture of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. We’re expecting new iPhones that are much faster, with higher-resolution cameras and 2GB of RAM for improved performance. Interestingly though, it looks like the new iPhones will also be thicker than last year’s models.
Purported schematics of the next-generation iPhone 6s have been posted by Engadget Japan, and they show a phone that measures 7.1mm thick. The current iPhone 6 is 6.9mm thick, of course, so this would mark the first time Apple increased the thickness of an “S” upgrade.
For a company that values thinness more than battery life, this would be a fairly interesting turn of events.
On one hand, users would welcome a thicker iPhone with open arms if it meant a bigger battery. But unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to be the reason this year’s iPhone 6s will be thicker than the iPhone 6. In line with earlier rumors, the higher-resolution display and extra components related to Force Touch will likely be the culprit here.
Nothing is confirmed until Apple unveils its next-generation iPhones this coming call, but we saw schematics leak early last year as well, and they ended up being the real deal.
