The Motorola Shamu, believed to be the Google Nexus 6 smartphone that may be launched later this fall, has been spotted in a benchmark test on GFXBench by Dutch publication TechTastic. Unfortunately, the device can’t really be confirmed just yet and specific details on all the device’s specs haven’t been posted to GFXBench as of this writing.

FROM EARLIER: Motorola Nexus 6 reportedly really coming, as Android Silver might be delayed

Nonetheless, there was enough information for TechTastic to conclude that the device is likely to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor because its processor performance was similar to the Galaxy S5, Xperia Z2, HTC One (M8) and OnePlus One.

Furthermore, by comparing the alleged Nexus 6’s performance to the benchmark tests of these flagship handsets, TechTastic also deducted the handset won’t ship with a 2K QHD display on board, but that instead it will have an up to Full HD display.

The Motorola Shamu is also expected to pack a large 5.9-inch display, according to previous reports.

While these guesses seem plausible enough for a 2014 flagship device, they’re certainly not official. After all, benchmark tests can be tampered with – for example, a strange 10.3-inch ‘Nexus Foo’ device running Android Wear has been spotted on the same site a few days ago, and it’s still unclear what the gadget actually is.

What’s known so far about the Google Nexus 6 is that Google has not abandoned Nexus smartphones, as it was previously reported, and Motorola may be the next OEM to score a Nexus contract.

An image showing a benchmark comparison between the Shamu and current flagship devices from Samsung, Sony, OnePlus, HTC and LG, follows below.
