second…it needs to last a lot longer

      • http://ebpp.com ebpp

i doubt this will do anything major to address that

  • Mjsla

Is this for the Verizon iPhone too?

    • Justin

You tell me. Do you even have 4.3 yet?

      Didnt think so…/fragmentation/ (ghostly voice)

Not sure if you’re an android enthusiast (I hate the phrase fanboy). But people saying “iOS fragmentation” in attempts to point finger back at iOS devices, should consider why they are soooo defensive — perhaps there is an element of truth about this issue with android?

Nothing is perfect. Fact is, android has a significant (scale unknown so lets not go there) problem with manufacturers abandoning support of a device or very long wait times for upgrades to the Android OS as compared to the time for iOS devices (currently iOS gets about 3yrs of upgrades for a device). Google using honeycomb to lock things down and get it more under control points to Google recognizing this as a negative. I think it’s a great step in the right direction by Google to help end users of this promising OS.

There is no fragmentation issue with DROIDS. With iOS, however there is. No 4.0 on the iPhone 2G from 2007? Pathetic. You can even put a custom background on the 2008 3G. That is fragmentation. AnDroid just offers consumers choices in OS versions.

      • Justin

Sorry, I figured by saying it with a scary ghostly voice you would get my sarcasm

        ….talk about getting defensive ;)

      • Anonymous

        To Norm:
Please note the difference between “end of support” which is for the iPhone 2G FOUR YEARS AGO, and “NO SUPPORT” which applies to (1)most Android handsets, (2) from many manufacturers, (3) in terms of system software update, and (4) THE LATEST LINEUP OF PHONES!

Android or manufacturers DO NOT offer consumer choices! They just provide NO choice at all so that users have to go the geek way. And when people whine to much on updates for too long, they would just be mentally ill.

        > No 4.0 on the iPhone 2G from 2007

Only 6 million of the original iPhone were sold, and only in the US. That is about a month’s worth of iPhones today. They are all 4 years old. The batteries became a fire hazard after 3 years, the extended warranty ended after 2 years, and the warranty ended after 1 year. The idea that software updates should be shipped for those phones is ridiculous.

The typical Android phone gets no updates. ZERO.

The truth is, there is an Apple platform, a Motorola platform, an HTC platform … there is no “Android platform.” For example, look at the Major League Baseball app for Android: it uses Flash, and yet still, it’s only available for a small number of Android phones. Angry Birds is only available for a small number of Android phones. They have to individually test on every phone and their apps only work on some of them. THAT is fragmentation. On iOS, it is easy to make an app that just works on all devices, even the original phone which can run v3.1.3.

I would also like to know this.

  • Gorgon

What kind of non-article is this? Titles speaks of Verizon iPad 2 issues, about going hands on and instead you have it installed on an AT&T iPhone. So you haven’t really gone hands on since you just got it installed, and you’re not able to do any testing with an iPad 2 for Verizon, which is likely driving the update. Seriously?

  • Ale

Please! Tell me that this update fixes the blue spot and white balance camera bugs in iphone 4!
    Thank you!

So what’s the verdict? Did it help anything?

Does BGR have to do a “Hands-On” for all things Apple???? “Apple releases a new Screen Protector” BGR goes Hands On!!

Remove the lipstick before yall kiss Steve Jobs & Apple ass.

    • http://twitter.com/Aleis Jayrock

was coming in here to post this. i see if apple was like the number one selling smartphone OS and it had 100 of millions of user and BGR was trying to serve that base…BUT IT DOESNT! android runs mobile but everytime apple does anything (IN THIS CASE FIXING THEIR SH!T) bgr needs to do a hands on.
how about just saying if the fix works or not. glad engadget is becoming more android friendly.

  • http://www.droiddoes.com/ Norm

This is laughable. The Xoom 4G LTE has has had 0 problems since day one. Maybe because it’s so open and free? Either way Apple is a fragmented mess.

    • Anonymous

If you say “There is no fragmentation issue with DROIDS,” then there is NEGATIVE fragmentation with iOS devices.

      • Anonymous

I’m pretty sure he was being sarcastic, seeing as how there isn’t even an LTE XOOM yet.

    • Anonymous

*OR* perhaps you are a worker from Google trying to see if there is a *SINGLE* fanboy that would support that kind of nonsense. A true fanboy would always think in a normal way. A retard doesn’t. Period.

      • http://twitter.com/ChazClout ChazClout

He is a troll and you’ve just been trolled really hard.

        Ignore it.

    • cansforjasper

That’s why the Xoom sold a whole 100,000 units last month. The fact that apple made more money last month from the iPad 2 smart covers is what’s laughable. LOL

      • http://twitter.com/Aleis Jayrock

ill! counting another mans money is kind of…yeah…

    • http://twitter.com/codespiro codespiro

You have a working LTE version of the Xoom?

    • chavista

“This is laughable. The Xoom 4G LTE has has had 0 problems since day one . . .” Might also be because nobody is buying the piece of crap!

      • Anonymous

That’s because it will never be available in Veneza’wela since, good ol’ Chavez doesn’t believe in freedom and democracy. He just wants his pueblito to remain the same ol’ way, very consistent with crApple products.

      • http://ctthosting.com Christian Turkoanje

No, it’s because the LTE Xoom doesn’t exist!!!

      • Anonymous

Doubt they have the real thing. 698.5 MB???
A little excessive in size, even for a crApple iPad, don’t they just use the same IPSW that’s used on iTouch/iPhone; I mean, it literally does the same thing, e.g., “Home” button and Single-Task!!??

    • Anonymous

This certainly is laughable; their perfect little blood-soaked tAmPax plagued with problems. First, connectivity and, then, Facegrime? I ask you Norm, how can one have connectivity problems on Wi-Fi? CrAppers are going, wa-wa-wa ……

    • Ian

where’s the 4G norm? Oh yeah, it didnt ship with it. Have fun sending it back for 6 days.

When will Apple fix the “still existing” DHCP lease issue?
There is a problem with iOS keeping the IP address (even after it expires), and then renewing the DHCP lease.
Apple is ignoring emails and bug reports. Plus as a dev, Apple won’t let you vent issue because of NDA.
I am not a dev, but I have seen the issue. And it’s been apparent since iOS came out. (and droid folks, it’s present on 2.x versions).

  • http://twitter.com/aniceberg iceberg

Why is the release code blurred? For all I know, that picture can be faked, and the person who made it doesn’t want to appear the idiot when Apple releases it with some code other than the one in this mockup.

    • http://ctthosting.com Christian Turkoanje

And it’s not that hard to rename the file. Right click and click rename.

iPad = FAIL = used tAmPax

Will it fix IPHONE 3GS 32GB issue when calling?
    IT REBOOTS DURING CALLS.

  • Aaron

The only thing I care about is does it patch the 4.3.1 jailbreak?

  • Lorraineben

Will it fix the annoying sound when sending texts? It seems ridiculous that you have to manually turn off the sound on the iPhone to address this

  • 1T2dirtnap

Wow Apple is quick! Samsung you should take notes, don’t leave your customers hanging!

  • Shawn

What about the wifi, battery, disappearing texts and text tone issues?

  • bbmertz

Will it also fix the error message that many 3GS users received immediately after downloading OS 4.3.1 indicating that “This accessory is not optimized for this iPhone,” along with related speaker issues? I hope so!

  • Lucianoaaron_lambertini

Is this 4.3.2 for verizon iphone?

  • Alex Jon
