Apple working on a touchscreen remote for upcoming Apple TV?

Exclusive

AppleRemote

Our Apple tipster (who accurately predicted organizable iPhone homescreens in iTunes as well as integrated social networking components) is back at it again! This time we’ve been sent an image that we’re told is a “product mockup that may coincide with the launch of a revised Apple TV.” It seems a little far-fetched that this unit’s only purpose would be to control an Apple TV, and you can even see a Safari option on the mockup. To be honest, it looks like a touch screen iPod nano, just longer. We’re going to dig a little bit and see what we can find, but we figured we’d run this with a high dose of caution for informational purposes.

Thanks, Lindsey!

Fake. This would make no marketing sense when Apple already has the iPod touch/iPhone to up-sell to.

Keep in mind BGR said they were told THIS IS A MOCKUP!!

It makes sense. Think about people who doesn’t have an iPod touch/iPhone.

I would love to see a new Apple TV.

But I don’t see an Apple TV remote coming looking like a Zune. So, my guess would be: this is not only a mockup, but fake right from the beginning.

And yes, I would love to be wrong on this one!

Cool concept. Been waiting for it long time.

    Fake pic though.

Everyone is assuming that “Apple TV” refers to the current product. Could this not instead be the remote for the rumored Apple *television* (flat panel display w/ Apple TV functionality and Safari built in)?

    Just a thought…

Clearly a photoshop mockup… Apple would not make a touchscreen remote.. Now if the iPod/iPhone could control Apple tv that would be awesome.

I know it’s difficult for you to understand, but it’s called “Remote”.

This is real! The remote app for touch is close but no cigar. You can’t rent or buy movies with the so, nor can you control 99% of apple tv settings. I own two apple TVs and just bought the touch JUST for remote! Wireless multiple device control (not IR) is a must, but remote falls way short.

I believe this report. Apple TV is long overdue for an update!

Sent from the touch I bought.
