Tesla certainly knows a thing or two about developing and manufacturing fast cars, but with the August unveiling of the Model S P100D, the company truly outdid themselves. When introducing the car a few months ago, Tesla CEO Elon Musk proudly boasted that Tesla’s new flagship vehicle was the “fastest production car in the world.” And with good reason, Tesla’s speed demon can go from 0-60 in just 2.5 seconds flat in Ludicrous Mode. Additionally, the Model S P100D can go from go from 0-100 in 6.5 seconds and can complete a quarter-mile in 10.7 seconds flat.

Over the last few weeks, a number of Model S P100D racing videos have started hitting the web, including this DragTimes clip which shows a Model S P100D performing surprisingly well up against a Lamborghini Huracan. Always keen on putting on ridiculous races, the folks over at DragTimes were at it again this week, this time pitting Tesla’s latest and greatest Model S against a McLaren 650S Spyder.

What makes this race particularly intriguing is that we’ve already seen videos of various Model S vehicles go head to head against a McLaren 650S Spyder. In July of 2015, we saw a Tesla Model S P85D get absolutely torched by a McLaren 650S. About one year later, Tesla’s Model S P90D impressively held its own against the aforementioned supercar.

That being the case, the stage has effectively been set for round 3.

Now given that Tesla’s can’t be beat when it comes to raw acceleration, it’s no surprise to see the Model S break out to an early lead. And given that the McLaren is a bonafide supercar, it’s also no surprise to see it eventually overtake the Model S. Still, Tesla’s tricked out Model S manages to keep the lead for an impressive amount of time, especially compared to how the Model S P85D performed not even two years ago. It’s also worth noting is that a McLaren 650S Spider, which you can pick up for a steal at $265,000, is more than $120,000 more expensive than a Model S.
