The two most hotly anticipated Android smartphones of 2016 are now both official. LG took the wraps off of its new LG G5 bright and early on Sunday morning, and Samsung followed closely behind when it unveiled the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge soon after.
It goes without saying that these new Android phones outclass anything and everything that has come before them — when’s the last time you saw a flagship Android phone that wasn’t better than its predecessors? With Samsung and LG now set to do battle in the coming months though, the real question is which new flagship phone came out on top.

Sales numbers are a difficult way to gauge which phone is the winner considering how much bigger Samsung is than its South Korean neighbor. So to answer the question of which company came out on top, we sought to find out which smartphone impressed diehard Android fans most.
As it happens, we didn’t have to do much digging to figure it out.
A post we found in the Android subreddit titled “So Now That The G5 and S7 Have Been Officially Announced, Which Phone Are You Leaning Towards and Why?” had a score of more than 710 at the time of this writing. It also has 680 comments, which is a huge figure.
Anyone and everyone wanted to weigh in on this hot question, and you might be surprised at how close a call it is. There were definitely great arguments on both sides of the fence, which is understandable. The G5 is clearly a more innovative smartphone, but the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge feature a much better camera and a sleeker look.
While a comment calling the LG G5 the winner had the most up-votes at the time of this writing, Android fans calling the Galaxy S7 the winner definitely seem to outnumber G5 supporters by a pretty wide margin.
