macOS Sequoia is Apple’s upcoming operating system update for its Mac models. With the Apple Silicon transition now over, the company continues to focus on newer features for its M1 Macs as Cupertino aims for Intel users to upgrade to the latest models.

If you haven’t updated your old Mac yet or are just curious to know what macOS Sequoia exclusive features are coming to your M1 Mac—or newer model—BGR has gathered everything Apple has announced so far.

These are nine exclusive macOS Sequoia features only M1 and newer Macs are getting:

  • Writing Tools: Users can rewrite, proofread, and summarize text nearly everywhere they write, including Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps;
  • Smart Reply: In the Mail, you can quickly draft a response with all the right details from the previous messages;
  • Image Playground: Users can create playful images in seconds, choosing from Animation, Illustration, or Sketch. This app is built right into apps like Messages and is also available in a dedicated app;
  • Memories in Photos: Users can create stories they want to see just by typing a description. Apple Intelligence will pick out the best photos and videos based on the description, craft a storyline with chapters based on themes identified from the photos, and arrange them into a movie with its own narrative arc;

  • Smart Notifications: An all-new Focus understands the content of your notifications and shows you the ones that might need immediate attention, like a text about picking up your child from daycare later today.
  • Clean Up tool: This Photos app feature can identify and remove distracting objects in the background of a photo without accidentally altering the subject;
  • Siri: Users type to Siri and switch between text and voice to communicate with Siri in whatever way feels right for the moment.
  • ChatGPT integration: When you feel Apple Intelligence isn’t enough, you can allow ChatGPT to access Writing Tools and other features for a better response.

Besides all the Apple Intelligence features exclusive to macOS Sequoia’s M1 and newer Macs, Apple has yet another feature for the Notes app exclusive to Apple Silicon Macs:

  • Live audio transcription: Record audio sessions within your note and generate live audio transcriptions you can search through or combine with other comments, checklists, or documents.

Lastly, iPhone Mirroring requires an Apple Silicon Mac or an Intel Mac with a security T2 chip. If your Mac has it, then you can have three other exclusive macOS Sequoia features:

  • iPhone Mirroring: With iPhone Mirroring, you can view what’s on your iPhone and control it, too, without having to reach for it;
  • iPhone notification on Mac: Catch your iPhone notifications right alongside your Mac ones and interact with them
  • Seamless drag and drop between devices: Move files, photos, and videos between your iPhone and Mac as easily as you drag and drop between apps on your Mac.
