Apple finally released its hotly anticipated AirPods… and you still can’t get them. Huh? Well, unless you were quick on the draw and you managed to place your order within an hour or so of Apple having released its new AirPods earbuds earlier this week, then you’re not going to be able to score the new headphones anytime soon. Why? Because like everything else Apple has launched in recent months, there’s not enough supply to meet demand. As a result, new AirPods orders placed on Apple’s website won’t start shipping until sometime next year.

You can get your hands on Apple’s new AirPods sooner than that if you want to shell out a couple thousand dollars, or you can sit tight and check out this AirPods unboxing video, which will hopefully tide you over for now.

Personally, I’m not a fan of Apple’s AirPods design. They look… silly. They look… like this. But hey, you know what they say about opinions. Taste is subjective and apparently there are plenty of people out there who aren’t put off by the prospect of having two tiny cigarette butts sticking out of their ears. There are plenty of other options out there if you’re looking for truly wireless earbuds with a more conventional design. If you’re into this new look though, you’ll have to wait until sometime around the end of January if you place your order on Apple’s website right now.

In the meantime, check out the video below. It’s a nice AirPods unboxing and analysis from MacWorld, and the narrator definitely covers all the bases. And the good news for those worried about audio sync issues, which were reportedly the cause of Apple’s delayed launch, the unboxer here says that audio is perfectly in sync.
