The hits just keep coming for the game that helped define the new generation of consoles. Ubisoft announced on Tuesday that Watch Dogs sold over 4 million copies in its first week on store shelves. That makes it not only the fastest-selling game Ubisoft has ever released, Watch Dogs now holds the title of fastest-selling new IP at launch in the history of video games. At this point, there aren’t many records left for the open-world adventure to break.

“With such strong sales momentum and positive feedback from gamers, Watch Dogs has positioned itself as the must-have game of the moment,” said Tony Key, Ubisoft’s senior VP of sales and marketing. “We’re really proud of this achievement, and are confident that the Watch Dogs brand has a promising future.”

Watch Dogs might not reach the heights of Grand Theft Auto V, but the enormous success of the first game is a great sign for the future of the series. If Assassin’s Creed or Far Cry are any indication, there will be plenty of Watch Dogs sequels in the coming years. Until then, Ubisoft is going to have plenty to show off at E3 this year, including Assassin’s Creed Unity and Far Cry 4. Check back next week for even more coverage of Ubisoft’s upcoming lineup.
