Will 2013 be the year of the Xperia? Anything is possible. Sony (SNE) is reportedly set to jumpstart its lineup of Android-powered Xperia smartphones with a flagship device codenamed “Odin.” Details are scant, but according to Xperiablog, model numbers for the device are: C6052, C6053 and C6056, with the last number of each model corresponding to a different region. Odin will reportedly run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. A mid-range “C160X” with 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A CPU and an Adreno 200 GPU will also be released with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich with a paltry 480 x 320 resolution display of an unknown size. Finally, an entry-level “C150X” will hit the scene, although specs for it haven’t been leaked.
AndroidAuthority speculates that the “C” in the smartphone model numbers could be a hint that Sony will revive the Cyber-shot branding it once included with some of its features phones back in the day. Obviously, if the Cyber-shot branding does make a comeback, it could mean Odin and its posse will sport some powerful cameras.
