Along with the Galaxy S5, Samsung also is rumored to be launching two sidekicks to the S5: the Mini and the Zoom. On Tuesday, GSMPedia picked up some more information on what we can expect from the Mini. As expected, it will feature bumped-down specs from the S5, including a 4.5-inch 326 PPI display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core 1.6GHz processor, and an 8-megapixel camera.
In a bit of surprise, the Mini is also rumored to be water resistant, one of the S5’s major selling points. In the past, Samsung has only included water resistance on its Active line of smartphones, but never on its flagship phone. Now that both the S5 and the S5 Mini are water resistant, it is not clear whether the Active line will continue.
The S5 Mini is also expected to be missing the fingerprint scanner and the heart rate monitor that are featured on the S5. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though, as the fingerprint scanner has been described as “more like a marketing gimmick than a legitimate feature.”
We’ve previously noted that the S5 Mini is expected to be unveiled in June.
