These are the best Notification Center widgets for OS X Yosemite

OS X Yosemite Notification Center Widgets

Apple’s phones and tablets weren’t the only devices to receive improved widget functionality in their latest update. OS X Yosemite also allows third-party apps to include interactive widgets in the Notification Center, bringing the mobile and desktop interfaces closer together than ever before.

FROM EARLIER: These are the iOS 8 app extensions you need on your iPhone 6

Adding widgets is as simple as opening up the Notification Center from the top-right corner of the desktop, navigating to the Today tab and clicking Edit at the bottom of the menu. Apple has included a few widgets by default that are worth trying out, including the ability to text message straight from the Notification Center, but AppleInsider has rounded up a few of the best third-party widgets that should be on your radar.

First up is Deliveries. It’s $4.99 on the Mac App Store, but if you send or receive a lot of packages, it’s the best way to keep track of the orders and sync entries between your iOS and OS X devices.

Next is Wunderlist, a checklist app that lets you mark off your daily chores straight from the Notification Center. It’s free to download, but you’ll need to pay $4.99 a month (or $49.99 a year) for all of the features.

Be sure to check out AppleInsider for the full list.
