Though there wasn’t much mystery left after months of steady leaks, Nokia on Thursday finally took the wraps off of its new Lumia 1020 smartphone during a press conference in New York City. The new handset features a 4.5-inch AMOLED display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 32GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM and the Windows Phone 8 operating system, but the star of the show was clearly the 41-megapixel PureView camera. Nokia’s industry leading camera includes Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, a xenon flash for photos and an LED flash for video, Nokia Rich Recording, full HD 1080p video capture support and a backside-illuminated sensor. It also features new Nokia Pro Camera and Smart Camera modes that bring all new software features to Nokia’s Lumia line. The Lumia 1020 will be an AT&T exclusive in the U.S. and it will launch on July 26th for $299.99 on contract. Additional images of the Lumia 1020 follow below.
