How light can a seven-inch tablet get? The answer so far seems to be 249 grams. Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo on Thursday announced that it will start selling the new NEC Medias Tab UL N08-D, a new tablet that AndroidCentral says is built with “a kind of carbon fiber that’s used in modern aircraft construction.” At 249 grams, the tablet is around 63% the weight of Amazon’s (AMZN) Kindle Fire HD and 71% the weight of Google’s (GOOG) Nexus 7 tablet. And for those wondering, the NEC Medias Tab does have some pretty good specs as well, including Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, an LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera and a 3,100 mAh battery.
