Nokia on Tuesday announced that it will be holding a press conference next month on October 22nd. “At Nokia, we never stop innovating. More to share on October 22,” the company posted on its Twitter account. Alongside the message, Nokia published a teaser image with the hashtag “#innovationreinvented,” likely pointing to the theme of the show. While no specifics were shared, the news follows an earlier report that suggested Nokia’s Lumia 1520 debut had been pushed back from late September to sometime in October.
The Lumia 1520 phablet will likely be the last smartphone Nokia ever launches. The company announced earlier this month that it will offload its devices business to Microsoft as part of a $7.2 billion deal. And while the Lumia 1520 may be Nokia’s last smartphone, it will also be full of firsts: Leaked specs suggest the 1520 will be Nokia’s first phablet with a 6-inch display, its first smartphone to feature full HD resolution, and its first phone to be powered by a quad-core processor. Other rumored specs include a 20-megapixel PureView camera and an updated version of the Windows Phone 8 operating system.
