New iPhone blueprints sourced from noted leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer appear to confirm that Apple’s next-gen iPhone 7 will not feature a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. The blueprint renders below, reportedly sourced from an Apple subcontractor (via uSwitch), also seem to corroborate previous reports indicating that the larger iPhone 7 Plus will be the only model to ship with Apple’s advanced dual lens camera system.

First up, we have a rendering of the iPhone 7.
And next we have the following rendering of the iPhone 7 Plus. Note the difference in the camera module on the iPhone 7 above and the iPhone 7 Plus below. As for what we can expect to see out of the iPhone 7 Plus’ dual camera system, Apple’s acquisition of LinX suggests that we’ll see improved image quality, better detailing when zooming in, decreased noise levels, improved low light performance and more. Notably, LinX, before being acquired by Apple, touted its cameras as “leading the way to DSLR performance in slim handsets.”
Also interesting is the claim that the iPhone 7 Plus will be graced with a Smart Connector on the back.
“Once again that tallies with long-standing rumors that the iPhone 7 Plus will offer support for a new set of dedicated accessories, as well as existing iPad Pro add-ons such as the Smart Keyboard,” the report adds.
What’s more, the report relays that Apple’s next-gen iPhone models will still rely upon a single speaker instead of opting for a dual speaker system as some previous rumors suggested.
Size wise, expect Apple’s iPhone 7 models to sport the same dimensions as the iPhone 6s. Aesthetically, the iPhone 7 will look a bit better as the unseemly antenna lines on the back will reportedly be shown the door.
To that point, MacRumors recently obtained the following photo which purports to show what the iPhone 7 will look like. Also note that the camera doesn’t appear to protrude anymore.
As for other iPhone news, John Gruber recently suggested that Apple’s 2017 iPhone model will feature an edge to edge display with an embedded Touch ID sensor and video camera.
