iPhones may not have as many megapixels as a lot of cameras on high-end Android phones, but repeated photography shootouts have shown that the device’s camera typically punches above its weight and can still deliver fantastic photos despite having lesser top-line specs. Now with the debut of both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, it looks like Apple has delivered its best smartphone camera yet and fans over at MacRumors this past weekend started posting some stunning photos they’ve taken with their new iPhones.

As you can see in the picture below, the iPhone 6 Plus can take some very nice low-light pictures thanks to the addition of optical image stabilization (OIS) technology to its camera, which works better in dimly lit settings than the digital image stabilization technology that Apple has traditionally used for the iPhone’s camera.
The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus can also take gorgeous pictures in normal lighting, of course, as these pictures posted by MacRumors forum members also demonstrate.
We’ll be interested to see what happens when photography experts pit the iPhone 6 against the Galaxy S5 in a detailed camera shootout, as Samsung’s latest device has earned wide acclaim for its high-quality camera. Either way, though, it looks like photography fans can’t go wrong with either device.
