Following a report from iMore early Monday morning, a horde of blogs and news organizations have managed to confirm that Apple (AAPL) plans to unveil its sixth-generation iPhone during a press conference on September 12th. First, the Journal’s AllThingsD blog said its sources pegged the week of September 9th for a special Apple event, and later on Monday, both Reuters and Bloomberg confirmed that Apple plans to unveil its next iPhone on September 12th. Interestingly, however, between the three unnamed sources cited in the two reports, none made any mention of the “iPad mini,” which iMore said would also be unveiled on the 12th alongside a new iPod nano. Are Reuters and Bloomberg’s people familiar with Apple’s plans not familiar enough with Apple’s plans to know about the new tablet, or will we have to wait until some time later this year to finally see the wraps taken off the iPad mini? BGR reported earlier this month that the new iPhone will feature NFC and 4G LTE connectivity when it launches this fall, and Apple’s 7.85-inch iPad is expected to launch this fall as well.
