Apple is expected to launch a 13-inch tablet at some point later this year, and a new report from China offers schematics for the bigger tablet, as well as several hardware details. Referred to as the iPad Pro or iPad Air Plus in previous leaks, the 12-inch tablet is called iPad Plus on Weibo, GizmoChina reports.
FROM EARLIER: New leak may reveal the first case for Apple’s biggest iPad yet
An image showing a tablet design that’s similar to the iPad Air 2 has been posted on the Chinese social network, though various design elements suggest this is actually the upcoming bigger version of Apple’s tablet.
For starters, the device has significantly bigger bezels, in line with what previous iPad models looked like. Furthermore, the tablet also seems to have four speaker grilles, one in each corner — a feature that was previously listed in various other reports.
The same source revealed more details about the supposed specs of the iPad Plus. Apparently, the tablet will feature a 12.9-inch display with 2K resolution, and a 7mm thin profile. The tablet is supposed to weigh 700g and pack a large 11,000 mAh battery, significantly bigger than the iPad Air 2’s 7,340 mAh battery.
The source did not mention any details regarding launch dates or prices for the bigger iPad.
