Apple on Wednesday released iOS 8, its latest major mobile operating system update, but some of the main features in it will only become operational – or fully operational – later in October, following an important update. One of them is iCloud Drive, which Mac users who also own iOS 8 devices are advised avoid enabling until OS X Yosemite is here. But for PC owners who also happen to use iPhones and iPads, iCloud Drive is already available, Ars Technica reports.

iCloud Drive is Apple’s alternative to Dropbox or Microsoft’s OneDrive, allowing users to sync files across devices, among other things. Apple has already released an updated iCloud Drive for Windows, which PC users can already install on their machines.
Once installed, users have to use their iCloud credentials to sign in, at which point an iCloud Drive folder will appear in their user profile folder and Favorites menu in Windows Explorer (see image at the end of the post).
iCloud for Windows will still lack certain features that Mac users get, including iCloud Keychain password syncing or “Find My Device” support.
