As if you needed more figures to drive home the fact that  Microsoft (MSFT) and 343 Industries’ Halo 4 for Xbox 360 is a huge success. Not only did Halo 4 manage to sell 3.1 million copies worldwide in its first 24 hours of availability, but according to AllThingsD, it made $220 million in sales and managed to beat out Hollywood blockbusters Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and the The Avengers, each of which made $91 million and $80.5 million, respectively. AllThingsD reports the Halo franchise has collectively made $3.38 billion since the game first launched on the original Xbox in 2001 with the latest game expected to contribute $300 million in worldwide sales in its first week. The Halo games are usually known for their superb multiplayer modes and Halo 4 is no different. It managed to set a new record “for the largest number of players in history, with more than four million players in the first five days” with over 31.4 million hours already spent playing the new game.
