The Apple Watch isn’t even available for purchase yet, but we’re already seeing the App Store flooded with updates and new apps that are focused on the Apple Watch. The device’s official release date is this coming Friday but as we all know, that “release date” is a misleading joke.
Most Apple fans won’t get their hands on a new Apple Watch until sometime in May or June, but you should prepare for your new gadget’s eventual arrival right now by downloading the most useful Apple Watch app we’ve seen so far — which also happens to be on sale for free right now.

Ever since Apple first started allowing Watch apps into the App Store, our inbox has been flooded with pitches from developers trying to get publicity for their Apple Watch apps. Since no one can actually buy an Apple Watch yet, we’ve ignored almost all of these emails since there really isn’t any reason to cover Watch apps yet.
Now it’s time to make an exception though, and it’s for an app that wasn’t even pitched to us.
In addition to today’s list of eight nifty paid iOS apps that are on sale for free for a limited time, we found a ninth app to share with you called Remote Battery. While it’s only useful on the Apple Watch and the Apple Watch isn’t yet available for purchase, the app is only on sale for a short time so we wanted to be sure to bring it to your attention.
It’s also easily one of the most useful Apple Watch apps we’ve seen so far.
In a nutshell, the app lets you check your iPhone’s remaining charge on your Watch. This is pretty huge, since one of the main selling points for the Watch is the fact that you won’t have to take your phone out of your pocket all the time. If that’s the case though, how will you know when your iPhone’s battery is running low?
Also neat is the feature that will send a notification to your Apple Watch when your phone’s remaining charge drops to a certain level. Another notification will let you know when your phone is fully charged so you can unplug it.
