New Apple TV unboxing video and walkthrough shows an incredibly polished UI

A new Apple TV unboxing video from 9to5Mac provides us with an even closer look at what Apple’s upcoming set top box will deliver, both from a hardware and software perspective.

Though historically a niche product, the upcoming Apple TV has a tremendous number of new and compelling features which may very well move it out of the hobby category and into a mainstream hit.

As evident in the video below, one of the more impressive facets of the Apple TV is that Apple has really graced the interface with a whole lot of sheen and polish. While previous Apple TV interfaces were functional, they weren’t always the most inviting and user-friendly. What’s more, because the new Apple TV remote has Siri functionality built right in, users can easily access all sorts of weather, sports, and even movie and TV information right from the comfort of their couch with a few simple and quick voice commands.

One interesting nugget from the video is that the Apple TV requires iOS 9.1, a good indication that we can expect an iOS update from Apple sooner rather than later. Additionally, the Apple TV comes with support for both Bluetooth headsets and Bluetooth speakers.

Hardware wise, the Apple TV doesn’t offer up too many surprises. Underneath the hood you’ll find an A8 processor and 2GB of RAM. On the back, you’ll find an HDMI 1.4 port, an Ethernet port, and 802.11ac wireless. Interestingly enough, the Apple TV‘s Ethernet port is 10/100Mbps, which means that its wireless speed is faster than its Ethernet.

When the Apple TV drops in about a month, a 32GB model will cost you $149 while a 64GB model will set you back $199.
