Apple hasn’t exactly released a lot of apps designed to win over Android fans, but that might change with the release of Apple Music for Android. Yes, you read that correctly: Apple’s music streaming service can now be downloaded for free on Google Play, where interested listeners will get a free three-month trial before deciding if they want to pay $9.99 a month to keep using it.

This is actually Apple’s third app to release on Google Play, although its first one was just a thinly disguised troll job designed to help Android users switch to iOS. Android fans predictably bombed that app and the followup Beats Pill+ app with one-star reviews on Google Play and they’re likely to do the same with Apple Music. In addition to the usual dislike that many Android fans have against all things Apple, the streaming service faces an additional challenge that many Android users might already be loyal to rival streaming services like Spotify and Google Play Music.
Even though Apple Music is a latecomer to the music streaming wars, Apple announced in September that it has garnered an impressive 15 million users, although we don’t know for certain how many of those users decided to stick with the service once their free trial ended.
