A bigger, 12.9-inch iPad Pro has been in the making quite a while, according to various rumors. However, Apple kept delaying the launch though a new story says the bigger iOS tablet is coming at some point after mid-November. The company is supposedly preparing for mass-producing the device though suppliers say Apple is actually playing it safe with 12.9-inch iPad orders.

Sources familiar with Apple’s supply chain operations have told Digitimes that components maker will start shipping iPad Pro supplies in late September, with Foxconn expected to build the device for Apple.

However, the initial shipment volume is much lower than what most market watchers are expecting from Apple. The overall weaker demand for tablets, including Apple’s iPad, is apparently the reason the company is more cautious about these initial iPad Pro orders. In recent quarters, Apple CEO Tim Cook kept defending the iPad, suggesting there’s plenty of room to grow even though iPad sales have not met expectations.

Earlier this year, Apple already demoed at least one iOS 9 feature for tablets that would make them even better tools for work-related purposes, and that’s split-screen multitasking. Even so, the company did not offer any hints that a bigger iPad is coming this year.
