Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in Star Wars, experienced a heart attack minutes before her flight was supposed to land in Los Angeles a few days ago. Fisher’s condition was deemed to be stable a few days after the event.
According to the BBC, Fisher had heart problems during a flight from London to Los Angeles a few days before Christmas.
BBC quotes TMZ, who said the cardiac arrest had happened about 15 minutes before the plane landed. A medic who was on the aircraft performed CPR, and then paramedics continued administering CPR for 15 more minutes before getting a pulse.
According to Reuters, Fisher’s brother Todd said she was taken to the hospital in critical condition on Friday and was undergoing treatment in the ICU.
“I’m shocked and saddened to hear the news about my dear friend,” Harrison Ford told The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday.
Fisher’s mother, actress Debbie Reynolds said on Twitter on Christmas Day that “Carrie is in stable condition. If there is a change, we will share it.”
Fisher played Leia in five Star Wars movies, with the untitled Episode VIII supposed to launch next December.
This hasn’t been the greatest Christmas so far when it comes to celebrities. In addition to Fisher’s heart attack, musician George Michael passed away on Monday.
