Just over two weeks after launch, Pokemon Sun and Moon are receiving their first Mythical Pokémon: the Steel- and Fairy-type Magearna. As with all Mythical Pokemon, you won’t be able to catch Magearna out in the wild. Instead, you will have to scan a QR code and pick it up from a character in the game.

DON’T MISS: New Pokemon Go leak suggests that Generation 2 could launch on December 8th

In order to get a Magearna of your own, you first need to beat either Pokemon Sun or Pokemon Moon and become the Champion of the Alola region. Once you’ve taken the top spot in the new Pokemon League, head to the QR Scanner in your Pokedex, line up the QR code below with the 3DS camera while holding the R button and wait for confirmation. Once the code has been scanned, you can visit the deliveryman at the Antiquities of the Ages shop in Hau’oli City to get Magearna.

Once you’ve added Magearna to your party or deposited it into a box, be sure to save your game. Otherwise, you might be missing a Mythical Pokemon the next time you load up your copy of Pokemon Sun or Moon.

Here’s the QR code you need to scan to get Magearna:

“Magearna’s Ability is the Soul-Heart Ability, a new Ability that no previous Pokémon has had,” the Pokemon official site explains. “Soul-Heart has the effect of raising Magearna’s Sp. Atk by 1 each time another Pokémon in the area faints. This is a new Ability—one that can be put to good use in battle.”

So far, only two Mythical Pokemon have been unveiled for Generation VII: Magearna and Marshadow. Expect a Marshadow event in the near future.
