Samsung hasn’t come up with any must-have features for its edge displays yet, even though it currently has two devices sporting such screens, including the Galaxy S6 edge and the Galaxy Note Edge. But that all changes with the gadget pictured in the image above.
Meet the Galaxy Blade edge, the first Android-powered smart kitchen knife in the world, which also happens to pack a curved screen.
Yes, it’s an April Fools’ Day prank. And yes it’s silly. But it’s also pretty entertaining.
According to Samsung’s official “announcement,” the Galaxy Blade edge is a waterproof smart knife made of ergonomic ceramic that features a foldable, user-replaceable handle (comes in high-quality olive wood or mammoth tusk), a diamond edge blade and a thermometer stylus. Obviously, the gadget has a built-in camera and can make calls, as the image above suggests.
The company goes into great detail explaining the gadget, and expanding on some of its smart features, including a “set of sensors and algorithms that analyze your grip, dexterity and strength,” as well as KNOX security features including finger-detection protection and a human blood sensor.
“If a call is made by accident, all you have to do is scan your fingerprint, swipe the security pattern, punch in the 15-digit password and sing along to the random-selected song from your most recent Milk Music station and the call will be cancelled,” the company says, further exploring the knife’s security features.
