Refresher: Everything you can expect Apple to announce at today’s event

Apple Event March 21

We can’t remember the last time the lead-up to an Apple event was this quiet. As a matter of fact, there might never have been a lead-up to an Apple event that was this quiet. Thanks to leaks and reports from reliable sources, we always know just about everything Apple will announce at its events long before each event actually takes place. Such is the case today as well, but there’s something different this time around: not many people seem to care about the announcements we’re expecting today.

There won’t be an Apple Car or even an iPhone 7 announced on stage by Apple today, but if you think the products Apple is unveiling today aren’t a big deal, you’ve got another thing coming. In this post, we’ll give you a quick refresher of everything you can expect to see from Apple during Monday’s big press conference.

DON’T MISS: 5 free apps for iPhone and Android that will actually change your life

First and foremost, the star of the show will be Apple’s first new iPhone of 2016. No, it’s not the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus (or “iPhone Pro“), but the iPhone SE is shaping up to be a big addition to Apple’s iPhone lineup.

According to reports leading up to today’s event, the iPhone SE is expected to be a fresh new take on Apple’s 4-inch iPhone 5. It will seemingly feature a nearly identical design, but it will have internal components that compare much more closely to the iPhone 6s. It’ll give Apple fans who don’t want a bigger device a great new option that supports Apple Pay and other new features, and it’ll also be cheaper than the iPhone 6s or 6s Plus.

We’re also expecting to see a fresh new take on Apple’s 9.7-inch iPad. No, it won’t be a new iPad Air — instead Apple will reportedly unveil a new smaller version of the iPad Pro. The new device is expected to be a bit pricier than the Air, but it’ll sport specs and performance in line with Apple’s larger iPad Pro.

Beyond that, we’ll likely see some new Apple Watch band options and partnerships announced, and we’re also expecting to see iOS 9.3 launched alongside software updates for the Apple TV and Apple Watch.

For more details on the iPhone SE, the new smaller iPad Pro and everything else Apple is likely cooking up for today’s event, be sure to check out our full Apple event preview. The show kicks off at 1:00 p.m. EDT / 10:00 a.m. PDT and BGR will be reporting on all the action as it breaks.
