HTC has its sights set on a major comeback this spring after last year’s disappointing HTC One M9. Now photos of the new device — rumored to simply be called the “HTC 10” — have leaked on the web and they thankfully show us that HTC isn’t just making a blatant iPhone 6s knockoff like it did with last year’s HTC One A9. In fact, it looks like HTC has made a device that’s sort of a hybrid between its classic One M8 design, the iPhone 6s and the Galaxy S7.
Here is one press render recently posted by @evleaks:
Not to be outdone, @OnLeaks posted some hands-on photos of the device:
A couple of things are worth noting. First, HTC’s newest flagship phone will be its first in a while to have a dedicated home button, which in this case bears more than a passing resemblance to the home button on Samsung’s Galaxy phones. Also note that the device’s camera is once again in the center of the device, whereas with the One A9 it was moved closer to the device’s corners like the iPhone 6s.
In all, it looks like HTC has done a nice job of making a phone that borrows some from other devices but that still retains its own unique design stamp, though I do wish HTC had retained its past devices’ front-facing speaker grills.
From a specs perspective, @OnLeaks says the device will have a 5.15-inch QHD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel camera and a USB Type-C port.
