LG will soon unveil a brand new flagship smartphone, the LG G5, which is already tipped to feature a design innovation not seen on any of its competitors.

DON’T MISS: This iPhone 7 concept looks like something Apple may really release

The G5, launching a day before MWC 2016 kicks off, going head-to-head against the Samsung Galaxy S7, also supposed to become official in Spain.

Various reports have so far detailed the G5, with The Verge providing additional information about what will surely be one of the most exciting new Android handsets this year.

According to sources familiar with the product who talked to the tech site, said that LG is going for a “fundamental redesign” with the phone. The G5 will not be an evolution of its predecessors. Instead, we’re going to see a creation that looks nothing like the G4 and the G3.

Most surprising is the special accessory slot at the bottom of the phone. It’s not exactly clear what it’s going to be, but reports have suggested the G5 will offer users a cartridge receptacle that would let users swap the battery of the phone.

The unofficial mockup above, created by CNET Korea, suggests users would be able to simply remove the bottom side of the phone and replace the battery with ease.

The LG G5 is supposed to be made of metal, so it’ll certainly be interesting to see how this concept will work out. The Verge has not been able to confirm the purpose of this unique accessory slot.

Other design details that have been rumored so far but are yet to be officially confirmed include a dual camera system on the back, a fingerprint sensor and volume rockers on the side. That’s right, LG apparently had to move the buttons from the back, a signature design element for previous flagships.
